Old Man

It’s October. This is the month of my birthday. In 25 days I turn double nickels. The speed limit. 55. Another in a series of milestones. I thought It would bother me, but at this point, what’s the point in being bothered by anything anymore. I used to think 55 was old. Now I know it’s old. Aside from the peeing, the vision and the brain farts, I feel the same as I did when I was 29. Filled with guilt, anxiety, boredom and frustration.

My wife was kind enough to point out at Dennys that I can order from the senior menu soon. I replied sarcastically “Thanks a lot.” Then I saw the prices and replied excitedly, “Thanks a LOT.” I am actually looking forward to being carded again.

October 26th, is the big day in case you were wondering. Start saving up now. I want a magnifying glass, adult diapers and a colonoscopy.
