One Man’s One Man Show

This week I opened up my ten show run of my one man show. It’s called “Welcome To Lawn Guyland”. Lawn Guyland is how us Long Islanders sound to people who don’t live here. Although we will never admit we have an accent. It’s a hybrid of Brooklynese/New Jersean/Italian/Jewish/Nasal

The show takes place in the front yard of a typical middle-aged, married, suburban man.

He has everything everyone wants. The house in the suburbs, the wife and kid, the car, the job. But he is miserable.

Then he figured out what is making him miserable. The house in the suburbs, the wife and kid, the car and the job.

This is what happens when the American dream turns out to be a nightmare.

There are many story arcs going on. The culture shock of a 14 year old kid from Brooklyn uprooted to the suburbs. Literally dragged from the streets of Brooklyn and thrown onto a yellow bus.

Being teased and called names throughout his life, yet finding his identity in those names.

Secretly hating his neighbors, complaining about just about everything, yet finding comfort and acceptance with his surroundings.

One more thing. It’s very funny.
